William Chapman
Upon High School graduation in Las Cruces, NM, I auditioned for the United States Army Band. I was accepted and while in military service to my country I completed the Nations Armed Forces School of Music in Norfolk Virginia specializing in Trumpet. I served in the army for six years and fulfilled my duty while stationed at Fort Stewart Georgia and Fort Huachuca Arizona. As time for my Army career came to a close I began to search my heart to identify the direction that God had for my life. After prayer and careful consideration I chose to attend the University of Mary Hardin Baylor in Belton, Texas to pursue a degree in church music. It was at this time that my musical world was aroused to a new direction. I had grown as a musician and vocal artist singing tenor. As my academic career has launched forward I have acquired various top standings in vocal competitions and for two consecutive years I have placed in the top percent in the National Association of Teachers in Singing and have finished in the top division in the graduate entries. It was also at this time that I met Rebecca, my friend at the time and now she is my beautiful wife. I could have never asked for a greater talent in my life than what God has bestowed upon me through the gift of singing. As I proceed in my musical studies it has been revealed to me that singing through a classically trained voice requires one to sing with heart, mind and soul. This discipline closely aligns with Gods purpose in service to him and humanity. With this concept in mind I offer my best in a form that goes beyond words because music speaks to the soul where speech alone cannot communicate. I give my all through singing as I give to the creator my utmost of heart, mind, body, and soul. I experience a direct correlation between the call to honor God with the best I have to offer and my passion for performing and singing opera as a real calling in my life.
