AYA Trio, piano, violin, cello

Rastrelli Cello Quartet

The AYA Trio (pronounced as ay-why-ay) was formed in 2013 at the Curtis Institute of Music, where its members studied extensively with Peter Wiley and worked regularly with Jonathan Biss, Robert McDonald, Arnold Steinhardt, and Meng-Chieh Liu.

Ying Li, piano

Twenty-four-year-old Chinese pianist Ying Li is the First Prize winner of the 2021 Young Concert Artists Susan Wadsworth International Auditions, as well as recipient of The Bridgehampton Chamber Music Festival Prize and the Tri-I Noon Recitals Prize. She has received top awards in numerous national and international competitions including the inaugural Antonio Mormone International Prize, Sarasota Artist Series Piano Competition, Brevard Music Festival, International Liszt Piano Competition for Young Pianists, and was a finalist at Concours musical international de Montréal.

Ying has performed with many leading orchestras such as The Philadelphia Orchestra, New Jersey Symphony, Brevard Music Festival Orchestra, L’Accademia Orchestra del La Scala, and the NWD-Philharmoniker, and with conductors such as Lina Gonzalez-Granados, Xian Zhang, Eric Jacobsen, and Jonathon Heyward.

Ying will make her New York City recital debut at Carnegie Hall’s Zankel Hall and her Washington, DC debut at the Kennedy Center’s Terrace Theater with additional US recitals at Pepperdine University in Malibu, Evergreen Museum & Library in Baltimore, Sunday Musicale in New Jersey, Southeastern Piano Festival, and the Honest Brook Music Festival.

Angela Chan, violinist

Angela Sin Ying Chan, born in Hong Kong, started learning the violin at 3 years old. She continued her violin and musical studies under Prof Michael Ma at the Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts and Prof Vera Wei-Ling Tsu at the Central Conservatory of Music.

In 2013, with full scholarship granted, Angela studies at the Curtis Institute of Music with Prof Aaron Rosand, Prof Shmuel Ashkenasi and Prof Pamela Frank. With full scholarship granted, She is currently studying her master’s degree under Donald Weilerstein.

Angela has taken part in numbers of violin competitions since 5 years old. Some highlights among her awards are: 2nd Prize of 2nd International Music Competition Harbin 2019, 1st Prize and Concerto Performance Award of the 8th International Louis Spohr Competition and Prize Winner of Michael Hill International Violin Competition 2019.

Chan founded AYA Piano Trio in 2013, which was awarded the First Prize of WDAV Chamber Music Competition 2018 and the Yellow Spring Comeptition. AYA is currently represented by Jean Shreiber Management.

Starting from 2010, Angela has held recitals in Beijing, Xiamen, Shenzhen, Gui Zhou, Hong Kong and Philadelphia, and appeared with orchestras including The Staatskapelle Weimar Orchestra, China Philharmonic Orchestra, EOS Orchestra and Hong Kong Symphonia. In 2016, Angela was selected as a soloist to a tour around the states with The Curtis Chamber Orchestra. She also toured with the Curtis Symphony Orchestra in their “2017 Europe Tour.”

Andres Sanchez Linares, cellist

Meet cellist Andres Sanchez, from PA/Venezuela/Honduras! He is a returning fellow quartet recipient at the 13th Annual Dali Quartet Fest! Andres Sanchez-Linares was born in Allentown, PA in 1997. He started playing the piano at the age of ten, and continued with cello and musical studies under formal instruction with his mother violist Adriana Linares, cellist Miguel Rojas, and cellist Jesus Morales at the ArCoNet Programs in North Wales, PA.

Mr. Sanchez was admitted to the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia at age 16, and recently finished his third year studying cello with Peter Wiley and Carter Brey and chamber music with Steve Tenenbom. Highlights of his 2015-2016 performing season include performances of Pierrot Lunaire by A. Schoenberg at the Kennedy Center and Columbia University in NY, as part of the Conservatory Project, Curtis on Tour, and performances at Swarthmore College Chamber Music Series.

Mr. Sanchez has participated in prestigious music festivals including the Artosphere Music Festival in Arkansas, the Banff International Music Festival in Canada, the ArCoNet Summer and Winter Boot Camps in North Wales, PA, the Dali Quartet International Music Festival in North Wales, PA, the Kutztown University Chamber Music Festival, Hotchkiss Summer Portals Chamber Music Program in Connecticut, CREDO Day Music Program, and The New York International Orchestra Festival at Carnegie Hall.
