The Texas Guitar Quartet
The Texas Guitar Quartet is Isaac Bustos, Jonathan Dotson, Alejandro Montiel and Joseph Williams
II. As soloists, they have garnered acclaim on concert stages around the world and prizes
in dozens of international guitar competitions. Together, they bring their unique passions and
talents to an ensemble dedicated to presenting chamber music of the highest quality. Recent performances
were presented by the New York City Classical Guitar Society, Victoria Bach Festival,
Austin Classical Guitar Society, Guitar Houston, Texas Music Festival, Troubadour Series at
Wofford College, University of Texas at Brownsville Guitar Ensemble Festival and Competition,
and Austin Chamber Music.

The quartet has developed an exciting repertoire by commissioning new works and creating their own arrangements and compositions. Earlier this year, the quartet commissioned Tracks, a major new work by composer Peter Lieuwen. They have also premiered works by Andrew Dickinson, Alfredo Barros, Mark Anthony Cruz, and Joseph Williams II. Their daring arrangements, such as Beethoven’s Egmont Overture, offer fresh perspective on works from other repertoires and push the boundaries of the medium.
Their critically acclaimed 2012 debut recording, Red, was featured on the internationally syndicated radio show Classical Guitar Alive.

Isaac Bustos, Guitar
A top prize-winner in thirteen international guitar competitions, Isaac enjoys an extensive performing career that has taken him all over the world.
Isaac holds a Bachelor of Music degree in guitar performance from the University of New Hampshire, where he was the only guitarist to ever hold a full scholarship, a Master of Music degree from the University of Texas at Austin where he also completed a Doctor of Musical Arts degree under the tutelage of world-renowned American guitarist Adam Holzman.
Dr. Bustos is on faculty at Texas A&M University Department of Performance Studies where he is Director of Guitar Studies. Additionaly, Isaac directs the TAMU International Guitar Symposium & Competition. |

Jonathan Dotson, Guitar
A relentless and passionate ambassador for the classical guitar, Dotson has concertized in venues
ranging from nightclubs in Austin, TX, to gothic cathedrals in Palencia, Spain. Jon holds multiple
degrees in guitar performance from Kennesaw State University with Mary Akerman, and
the University of Texas at Austin, where he recieved his doctorate under Adam Holzman. During
this time, Dotson claimed top prizes at several international competitions.
Dr. Dotson has taught for the renowned guitar program of the University of Texas at Brownsville
alongside Michael Quantz, and is presently teaching at Texas Southmost College in Brownsville,
TX.

Alejandro Montiel, Guitar
Described by Soundboard Magazine as a "flawless musician, filled to the brim with polished
technique," guitarist Alejandro Montiel enjoys a performing career that has taken him throughout
the United States and Italy. He holds graduate degrees from the Peabody Conservatory and the
University of Texas where he studied with Julian Gray and Adam Holzman, respectively.
In addition to performing, arranging and recording, Dr. Montiel directs the guitar programs at
Sam Houston State University and Lone Star College. Alejandro resides in Houston with his
family. |

Joseph V. Williams, II, Guitar
Joseph Williams II has performed throughout North America and Brazil. He has distinguished
himself by winning prizes in twelve international guitar competitions. Additionally, Joseph is a
succesful and in-demand composer, having written major new works for the Miró String Quartet,
Les Frere Meduse, Cavatina Duo, and many more.
A native of New Mexico, he finished his Doctorate of Music Arts at the University of Texas with
Adam Holzman. Williams earned a Bachelor of Music from the University of New Mexico with
Michael Chapdelaine and a Master of Music from the University of Arizona with Thomas Patterson.
Dr. Williams is the guitar instructor at University of Mary Hardin Baylor.
