St. Louis Brass
One Of America’s
Longest Standing Brass Quintets

Founded in 1964, the Saint Louis Brass Quintet is one of America’s longest standing brass quintets. The group was originally formed by members of the St. Louis Symphony to play children’s concerts around the St. Louis area. Soon though, they had expanded to present full length concerts funded by the National Endowment for the Arts, the Missouri Arts Council and the Mid-America Arts Alliance. Now, forty years and more than 2,500 engagements later, the only original member still in the group — and the only one who actually lives in St. Louis — is trombonist Melvyn Jernigan – who retired from the Saint Louis Symphony after 35 years.

Take 3
Piano, Cello, Violin

Our original format, Take 3 is a trio playing mainly instrumental music featuring tunes by Duke Ellington, Monk, The Beatles, Count Basie and more. We have played a variety of venues including coffee houses, wine tastings, private parties, wedding rehearsal dinners and clubs. The instrumentation, which is mandolin, guitar and upright bass, makes Take 3 ideal for restaurants too. One restaurant owner in Montour Falls, NY said, "Take 3 was perfect! They played at an ideal level for the dinner crowd, then turned it up a notch after dinner and played a great show!"

Doug Montgomery
Pianist

For over thirty years, music lovers around the world have agreed with the Chicago Sun Times, “There is only one Doug Montgomery.” His unforgettable live performances and his numerous versatile recordings reveal the vast talent of this world-class musician and his repeat engagements at some of the country’s premier private and corporate events proves the appeal is surely the music but also the man himself. In fifth grade he walked through the doors of his first music class and entered a whole new world. Recalling, the experience, Doug claims he can still smell the ink on the copies containing the song the teacher passed out that day.
